At Baringa State Secondary College we strive to create independent learners. We are driven by the shared belief that all students can and will learn through effective learning partnerships between teachers, students and parents to ensure that our students are confident, creative and aspirational about their chosen future.
Over the course of their secondary education, our students will experience learning across the whole Australian curriculum including -English, Mathematics, Humanities, Science, The Arts, Technologies, Languages, Health and Physical Education creating a robust foundation of skills and cognition in order to prepare students for choice in their senior learning pathway.
Students in the Junior Secondary phase of learning will sample a range of subjects from The Arts and Technologies, including Visual Art, Dance, Drama and Music. They will experience Technologies including Design and Technologies and Digital Technologies with experiences in engineering principles and systems; food specializations; and materials and technologies specializations. Students will experience Japanese from the suite of languages and HPE.
Sampling of subjects from The Arts, Technologies, Languages and HPE will occur on a semester rotation across years 7 and 8. As students move into the middle phase of learning (years 9 and 10) they will have the opportunity to begin to specialize through choice before selecting a set course of study for years 11 and 12 that will prepare them for their chosen pathway.
