Sports
At Baringa SSC we take pride in building a culture of sporting involvement and success. Our sport program is divided into in school competitions and extra-curricular competitions.
In school competitions take place within school hours (i.e. 9am-3pm Monday to Friday). These competitions include things like our Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics carnivals. Our three annual school inter-house carnivals are Swimming (February), Cross Country (March) and Athletics (June).
Baringa SSC has four sports houses. House colours and mascots are described below:

Baringa SSC is also involved in the Coastal District Gala Day Sport. This competition involves students in Years 7, 8 & 9. Students play at various venues across the district against local schools.
Gala Sport days are Wednesdays and Thursdays in Weeks 4 and 8 of each term.
Students participate in two seasons of sport each year as follows:
Summer Sport: Year 9 Term 1 and Year 7/8 Term 4.
Sports may include basketball, fast 5 football, oztag, pickleball, e-sports.
Winter Sport: Year 7/8 Term 2 and Year 9 Term 3.
Sports may include netball, rugby league, touch football, volleyball.
Teams are formed based on student interest and staff expertise.
Extracurricular competitions occur outside school hours. Baringa SSC offers students the opportunity to play in Basketball, Netball and Oztag competitions, in addition to Surfing through North Caloundra Surf School in the Summer months.
Students may trial to be part of Sunshine Coast Schools district and regional representative teams in the following sports: AFL, baseball, basketball, cricket, football, golf, hockey, netball, rugby league, rugby union, softball, surfing, tennis, touch, triathlon, volleyball, water polo.

Baringa SSC is also a proud participant in the Annual Kokoda Challenge. Open to students in Year 10, 11 and 12, a team of 4 students and one teacher take on Australia's toughest charity school event. Summit Netball Program
In 2026 Baringa State Secondary College is offering a Summit Netball Program to our students, the aim of the program is to empower students to be confident, creative, and aspirational athletes and leaders - on and off the court.
